Recently we unearthed the first trestleboard written by the newly-installed Worshipful Master Fred Talmadge in February 1992. We wanted to share this history with you and so have reprinted his message and that from the Senior Warden.
Master’s Message
Brethren,
As I sit here writing my first column as Master of Petaluma/Hamilton Lodge, I can not help but to think back over the short years, progressing through the line and of all those who helped me to achieve the goals I set for myself when I joined the Lodge. Words can not express the gratitude I feel towards all who helped me along the way.
On January 4th when I was installed as Master, I set another goal for myself, that of doing my level best to be worthy to be addressed as Worshipful Master. I’m sure that with your help I can acheeve [sic] my goal.
I have planned a year I think we all will enjoy. We will still have our Stated Meeting Dinners, though we will not have after dinner programs as in the past, for I feel that due to the short period of time between dinner and the Stated Meeting there is not enough time to justify such programs. This is not to say that our lady’s [sic] cannot sit and chat over a cup of coffee or tea while we are at the meeting.
On May 2nd I have planned a reception for the Grand Master, which I believe will be one of the few our Lodge has had. It will be a gala affair and I hope that all who can will [sic] support me in this endeavor. I will be giving you more details on this in the near future.
On February 15th the Masonic wives are having a Sweetheart Dinner Dance. There will be a no host bar from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. For dinner you have a choice of Prim [sic] rib or Stuffed Cornish game hen. The cost will be $10 per person. It will be held at LaFayette Lodge in Sebastopol. Make reservation by February 7th with Susie Grauer by calling [phone number] or Sharon Vega at [phone number]. We should make an effort to support these ladies. They need at least five couples from each lodge to meet expenses.
In conclusion I would like to thank the Installing Officers for doing a great job on installation night they were Charles MacNichols P.M., Roy Anderson P.M. and Eugene Cuslidge P.M. Also a special thanks to Claudia Horst for providing boutonnieres, corsages and flowers.

Elections are over, our newly elected and appointed officers are duly installed. The officers have new responsibilities, and we may expect that they will apply themselves, to their new tasks.
As for myself, I have ascended to my responsibilities on the same level that I had thirty years ago. At that time I applied myself, and I shall now do the best I can.
Much is always to be done, however, to please everyone is difficult at times. Input by the membership is very important and helpfull.[sic] What can we do to improve our activities? Your suggestions may be good and timely.
