Dr. Edgar Mitchell, a Korean War veteran, Apollo 14 astronaut, lunar golfer, and long-time Freemason, was awarded the Key to the City of Petaluma on October 27th, 2012, in a wonderful ceremony hosted by the Petaluma Historical Museum at our beautiful Lodge, for his efforts to advance worldwide consciousness and harmony. Doctor Mitchell is a founding member of IONS, a society devoted to the study of human consciousness, who moved their headquarters to Petaluma in early 2012.

In addition to the mayor and president of the museum, our own Worshipful Master Christopher C. Wright was asked to give a brief presentation before the crowd of nearly three-hundred attendees regarding the history of Freemasonry, its importance to Petaluma, and how the ideals of faith, hope, and charity, are more necessary now than ever before. Below is a small gallery of the event, which was widely-reported by the local newspapers, and also included a parade in Dr. Mitchell’s honor.
